OCCUMC

Building Expansion Project

Our theme for this Project was "Faith Needs Room to Grow." The committee chose this theme because it spoke to our two main concerns: faith and growth.

Construction on the new sanctuary was completed and a Consecration service was held on June 2, 2002. We celebrated our new sanctuary (approximately twice the size of the old sanctuary), several Sunday School classrooms and a dedicated music room. A future phase may include a larger fellowship hall, a new kitchen, more classrooms and a 2nd elevator.

Here is a picture of the front of the new sanctuary:

We also remodeled the existing building. We moved the offices and nurseries, remodeled one bathroom and added a second one upstairs, widened the main staircase and added a sprinkler system.

In 2009, the church Trustees have begun to make the church more Handicapped Accessible.  Doorways have been widened and powered doors are now on the two main entrance doors.  We are pleased that these accommodations have made those individuals using wheelchairs more comfortable in our church.
