Worship Services | Communion | Nursery | Baptisms, Weddings & Funerals
We have 3 worship services each week. There are two traditional services on Sunday mornings at 8:00 a.m. and 11:00 a.m. with a contemporary service 9:30 a.m.
Communion in our denomination is open to all those "who love the Lord and are in fellowship with their neighbors." You need not be a member of our church or even of our faith. In our congregation, Communion is by intinction--dipping the bread into the cup. Communion is held the first Sunday of every month at morning services. Special services of Communion are held on Ash Wednesday and Maundy Thursday.
Our Nursery is provided from 8:00 a.m. until 12:00 noon, during both of the morning services and Sunday School. The nursery is located downstairs in the children's wing of the church. Three paid professionals staff the nursery. The nursery is for infants, toddlers, and young children below the age of five. The room is divided in half for the non-walkers safety from the walkers. The nursery is located downstairs in room L10 under the sanctuary.
Guests, as well as members and friends of the congregation, may take their children to the nursery. The nursery committee ensures that the nursery is kept clean and contains age appropriate toys.
BAPTISM
The Sacrament of Holy Baptism is a gift from God for all persons. It is
offered by the Church to all those who are repentant and seeking to be
a follower of Christ. A baptismal conference is held about a month
prior to a desired baptism. In the conference there is a review of the
meaning of baptism. Commitments are made declaring that one is a
follower of Christ. In the case of an infant or child, parents and
sponsors pledge to pass on the faith to the child. Baptism is offered
to people of all ages and is usually administered in the worship
setting. If you are interested in learning more about baptism, please
contact Pastor
Armstrong.
WEDDINGS
Weddings in the church are an act of praise and worship. We praise God
for the gift of life and the experience of love. Couples pledge
themselves to one another praying to bring out the highest ideals of
Christian love in the marriage covenant. Premarital counseling is
required and consists of six sessions beginning no later than 6 months
prior to the wedding. One does not have to be a member at the time of
covenanting with the pastor, but a commitment to Christ’s church is
required and to be practiced in preparation for the wedding. Please
contact Pastor
Armstrong as soon as you can after engagement. People are
frequently requesting dates one to two years and we want to help you
make optimal arrangements for your wedding.
FUNERALS
When a loved one dies we encounter the mystery of life, death and
resurrection. It is a holy time incorporating thanksgiving for a loved
one’s life, grieving the loss of presence, and recalling the promises
of eternal life in scripture and in the resurrection of Jesus Christ.
As the time of death draws near, you are welcome to contact the pastor
to make arrangements and to have time for prayer in the home, hospital
and nursing homes. Communion and anointing oil can be brought if
requested. At the time of death again notify the pastor and discuss
dates, funeral home arrangements, and a time to meet to complete plans
and receive pastoral and congregational support.
